The Story of the Music

Austin Hollow was a four-piece Roots-Americana Rock band out of Rochester, NY, formed in 2018 by guitarist and singer-songwriter Scott Austin.Scott’s songs pulled from Americana, jam, bluegrass, and classic rock — real-life storytelling built around dysfunctional relationships, love and loss, social and spiritual struggle, and the chaos and beauty of everyday life. Musically, the band moved easily between riff-driven rock, soft acoustic ballads, soulful blues, with hints of improvised jam and bluegrass.The lineup featured Mel Muscarella on keys and vocals, whose blues-and-rock-influenced voice has earned acclaim across the region, alongside the rhythm section of Sean Scanlon (drums) and Jona Chartrand (bass) — bringing decades of experience and savvy.In 2023, that vision came together on the band’s debut full-length album, The Fisherman. In the band's final active year, drummer Joe Myers joined the band, lending his powerful meter to the sound.Austin Hollow is currently inactive, but the music remains — and this page will grow again if the band does.
